Media Services & Policies

Interviews - All interviews with Radford University coaches, student-athletes and staff members must be arranged through the Office of Athletic Media Relations. After games, matches and other athletic events, locker rooms are generally off limits to members of the media. Player and coach interviews, however, may be conducted outside locker room entrances or on the playing surface after a minimal, 10-minute cooling off period for participants. On non-game days interviews can be arranged around class and practice schedules.

Practices Attendance at practice should be arranged through the RU Athletic Media Relations.

Game Day Coverage and Press Passes - Any media member covering a game, match or other contest hosted by Radford University is asked to reserve a press credential at least 24 hours prior to the event. For most sports, the Office of Athletic Media Relations will provide statistical information and/or play-by-play as soon as possible following the completion of the contest.

Parking - The Dedmon Center, home of the Highlanders, is on University Drive across Norwood Street (U.S. 11) from the main campus. Media covering RU basketball should park in the upper parking lot (located between the field hockey field and the tennis courts) and enter on the administrative level nearest that lot. Television camera crews might find it more convenient to park on the lower level near the riverside entrance for ease in getting equipment in the building. Please call the Athletic Media Relations Office in advance for press and parking passes.

Press Conferences - In the event of a press conference, the primary media covering Radford University Athletics will be notified as far in advance as possible. To be added to the primary media list, contact Drew Dickerson or Brian Stanley in the Office of Athletic Media Relations.

Game Programs, Game Notes and Media Information Pre-game information may be obtained from the Office of Athletic Media Relations when available. If notes, programs, etc., are not available, the Office of Athletic Media Relations will assist members of the working media in any way possible to ensure accurate reporting.

Press Facilities Basketball press row is courtside in front of the blue, reserved-seating section. Press row seating is provided for working media representatives, radio and television crews broadcasting the game, sports information staff, and approved visitors. No children are allowed. Patrick D. Cupp Memorial stadium and Dedmon Center Park both have pressboxes with seating for appropriate personnel.

Media Hospitality For basketball a media hospitality area is located behind the bleachers on the south end of the arena. Programs, statistics and press guides are provided there. At halftime and after the game, NCAA statistics will be distributed on press row and in the hospitality area. Phones and fax services are available.

Technology At most Radford University Athletic events, a general phone and fax line and photocopier will be made available to members of the working media. When those amenities are unavailable, an appropriate working space will be made available before, during and after events. Internet access is also available at most athletic events as well. Please contact the Office of Athletic Media Relations for more information.

The visitor's radio station is provided space on press row at the Dedmon Center. A standard business line with a modular plug is provided along with a backup line for emergencies. There is a $50 fee for one-time use of the line (reciprocal agreements can be arranged).
