BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Liberty's two first half goals were too much for Radford to overcome, as the third-seeded Flames eliminated the Highlanders from the Big South men's soccer tournament semifinals with a 2-0 win on Saturday night.

The Flames (12-4-3) advance to Sunday’s championship game against the fourth seed, Winthrop, and will make their first appearance in the title match since 2007.

Liberty got on the board first in the 22nd minute off a goal by Darren Amoo, who took a cross from Brian Edman and put a header past Radford (5-9-3) goalkeeper Ryan Taylor (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian).

Seven minutes before halftime, Liberty extended its lead to 2-0 on an own goal.  Senior Andrew Scheck flipped a ball into the box that knocked off a Radford defender and trickled into the net.

In the final 45 minutes, neither team was able to score with both defenses playing strong.

Both teams had 11 shots, however, the Flames held a slight advantage on shots on goal at 6-5.  Liberty goalkeeper Panashe Nhekario picked up four saves in the win, while Taylor stopped four saves as well.
