Richardson and Derricott Soar at USATF Junior Olympics

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Incoming freshmen Jasia Richardson (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) and Elaine Derricott (Richmond, Va./Henrico) each placed in the top 20 nationally in their respective event at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic Championships at North Carolina A&T University’s Irwin Belk Track.
Richardson, the Group AAA Indoor State Champion in the triple jump, placed second with a jump of 12.32-meters (40-05 feet). Her mark of 12.32-meters would have placed second at this year’s Big South Conference Championship
Derricott, ranked 21st nationally in the long jump, moved down three spots with an 18th place finish. Her jump of 5.21-meters (17-01.25 feet) would have placed her in the top 15 in the Big South Conference and second best among Highlander long jumpers.
