2010 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE (PDF)
RADFORD, Va. – In addition to hosting the second annual Radford University Tournament, the Highlanders’ 2010 volleyball schedule will feature three weekend tournaments and a 16-match Big South slate as announced by third-year head coach Marci Jenkins.
After opening their campaign at the Duquesne Tournament (Aug. 27-28) for the second consecutive season, the Highlanders will host the Radford University Tournament the following weekend (Sept. 3-4).
This year’s 13-match RU Tournament will include first-time participants East Tennessee State, Norfolk State, Canisius and Davidson.
A week after hosting their second annual event at the Dedmon Center, the Highlanders will join host DePaul, Seattle and USC Upstate in Chicago, Ill., for the DePaul Tournament Sept. 11-12.
On Sept. 17-18 Radford will conclude its tournament slate with an appearance in the College of Charleston Tournament with the likes of Coppin State, North Florida, College of Charleston and Central Michigan.
“We are excited about our out-of-conference schedule next season,” said Jenkins. “It will be tougher than last year, but my thoughts are that it will pay off for us during conference play.”
Following a Sept. 21 match at James Madison, the Highlanders will play league foes in 16 of their final 17 regular season matches, including a “Senior Day” tilt with 2009 Big South Champion Coastal Carolina on Nov. 12.
Along with JMU, Radford will entertain Elon on Oct. 26 in its final non-conference contest of 2010.
Winthrop will host the 2010 Big South Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 18-20 in Rock Hill, S.C., with the champion earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
