Tom Lillard serves as the Director of Athletic Development at Radford and as Executive Director of the Highlander Club.
Lillard's role encompasses a wide variety of fundraising, including directing a comprehensive annual fundraising campaign to increase and expand private support to Intercollegiate Athletics. He also has Implemented a comprehensive campaign to solicit Capital Campaign gifts to Intercollegiate Athletics.
Lillard has direct involvement with each sport as well. He directs and coordinates Varsity Club (sport specific giving) fundraising and activities to increase alumni participation. Manage Varsity Club account balances.
In addition to his general and corporate fundraising duties, Lillard directs and manage a comprehensive stewardship program for Highlander Club members and athletic scholarship endowments. He oversees the Highlander Club Advisory Council and coordinates Annual Highlander Club events and activities.
Aside from his duties with athletics, Lillard also serves as a Major Gifts Officer for the Radford University Foundation. His primary charge is to identify and manage a prospect list of corporations and individuals with major gift potential, soliciting major gifts through individual meetings and proposals. He also identifies new fundraising initiatives through interaction with various University constituencies and assists the Vice President of University Advancement in fundraising initiatives as directed.
Prior to joining the foundation, Lillard performed the same fundraising role as Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs.
Before moving into athletic fundraising, Lillard worked for the university as the Assistant Alumni Affairs Director.
Lillard, a soccer student-athlete at Radford, began his career for the Highlanders in 1980 as the men's soccer coach. He compiled a 47-51-7 record while at the helm of RU soccer. He also served a brief stint as a Dedmon Center manager.
A 1979 graduate of RU, Lillard resides in Radford with his wife Kathy, two daughters, Rachel and Kasey and his son Kevin.
