Brad Greenberg was named Radford University’s sixth head men’s basketball coach on March 23, 2007. He brings a long, impressive resume into one of the most successful basketball programs in the Big South Conference and around the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Greenberg recently completed his fourth season at Virginia Tech and his third as Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach. His brother, Seth, made Brad the first assistant hired after Seth accepted the head coaching position. Brad was promoted to Associate Head Coach in September 2004.

While at Virginia Tech, Greenberg’s duties were all-encompassing. He was responsible for scheduling, scouting and game preparation. He heavily assisted in the recruiting process, focusing on international prospects.

A talented guard when he was a player at American University, Greenberg worked with the perimeter players during practice and instructional times. He also worked closely with his brother in conducting practices and on-court coaching duties.

Virginia Tech led the ACC in turnover margin during each of the last three seasons, and four years ago the Hokies led the Big East in turnover margin. Greenberg's expertise in teaching perimeter play, a staple in the Big South Conference, has heavily impacted the development of Virginia Tech’s senior backcourt. Under Greenberg’s guidance, Zabian Dowdell and Jamon Gordon both earned All-ACC honors and ACC All-Defensive Team honors in 2006-07.

Greenberg joined the Virginia Tech staff with over 25 years of successful NBA and NCAA coaching, management and media experience. The two seasons prior to Tech were spent with his brother at the University of South Florida, where he was the Director of Basketball Operations.

Prior to USF, Greenberg had a distinguished career in the NBA, rising through the ranks from assistant coach to general manager. He was the general manager and vice president of basketball operations for the Philadelphia 76ers from 1996-97. Among his many achievements in the Sixers front office, he was responsible for drafting Allen Iverson, the 2001 NBA MVP and 2005 NBA scoring leader.

Greenberg spent 1989-92 as the Portland Trailblazers' director of player personnel. He was promoted to the team's vice president of player personnel, a position he held from 1992-95. While in Portland he helped build three teams that played in the Western Conference Finals and two teams that competed in the NBA Finals.

Greenberg brought in several players to build the Blazers into a championship caliber team. Among those players were Buck Williams, Rod Strickland, Danny Ainge, Basketball Hall of Fame selection Drazen Petrovic. He also helped draft three college players who went on to earn the NBA Sixth Man of the Year awards (Cliff Robinson, drafted No. 36 in the 1989 draft, received the award in 1993; Anthony Mason, drafted No. 53 in 1988, received the award in 1995; and Aaron McKie, drafted No. 17 in 1994, received the award in 2001).

His basketball player evaluation talents have also been utilized by the Denver Nuggets, Washington Bullets and Orlando Magic, all of which brought him on as a consultant. He has used those same talents to assist the NBA Scouting Service - The Court Report, and the J & J World and European Basketball Registers.

Greenberg moved to Portland after two stints as an assistant coach. He started his NBA career with the Los Angeles Clippers, serving as an assistant coach from 1984-86. From there he joined the New York Knicks for the 1986-87 season. His assistant coaching stops afforded him the opportunity to coach two of the professional basketball’s all-time greats, Patrick Ewing and Bill Walton.

Greenberg got his start in college coaching at his alma mater, American University. After one year with the Eagles, he was an assistant coach at St. Joseph's University from 1978-84 where his talent evaluation skills first blossomed as the Hawks recruiting coordinator. St. Joe's made two NCAA and three NIT appearances, including a run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 1981.

Greenberg is a 1977 graduate of American with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Athletics, the Media and Society. A team captain for the Eagles as a junior and senior, he was a three-year letterwinner at American. He played his freshman year at Washington State University.

In addition to his accomplishment on the court, Greenberg is well respected in many basketball circles. He has served on a number of committees and associations, including the WNBA Rules and Competition Committee and the University of South Florida Academic Task Force. He was also a presidential appointee on the University of South Florida's Committee on Black Affairs.

Greenberg served as a television analyst for regional broadcasts of USF basketball on Fox SportsNet and ESPN Regional Television. He also worked for three seasons as the television analyst for the Northeast Conference on Madison Square Garden Network.

An accomplished author, he wrote "The Assistant Coach - A Courtside Pocket Reference for Practice Development." Greenberg also served two years as a contributing writer on NBA.com and was one of the website's player personnel and draft experts.

Greenberg lives in Blacksburg with his son, Cory, a student at Virginia Tech and daughter, Ali, a student at Blacksburg High School.
