Profile:Randy Jarman was hired as Radford’s second Head Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach in the summer of 2007. Jarman came to RU with over 10 years coaching experience with the majority coming at the college level. Jarman comes to RU after spending 2006-2007 as the Head Coach of the Douglas County Stingrays, a team of over 100 swimmers. In 2007 he led the Stingrays to a Division 3 Georgia 14-and-Under first runners-up honor in state competition. In 2002, Jarman was hired by North Carolina as the Assistant Swim Coach. While at UNC, he instructed two 2004 Olympic Trial Qualifiers, three ACC champions, four All-Americans, and eleven senior national qualifiers. During his five year tenure at UNC, Jarman also headed up the North Carolina Aquatic Club age group team, leading them to a second place state finish which was the highest in the club's history. Jarman began his coaching career at East Carolina in 1997, when he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and was a part of two conference championship teams. He spent his next four years as a Graduate Assistant Coach at ECU while earning a Master’s Degree in Sociology in 2000. Leaving his alma mater to pursue a teaching career, Jarman became the head swim coach at Shelby High School in Shelby, North Carolina while teaching AP Psychology. He led the Golden Lions boys swim team to their first state championship in 11 years. |
